Reopening Phase II
Our team members, residents and families have done a fantastic job these past few months in keeping the coronavirus at bay and protecting our community. We continue to follow guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Alexandria Health Department while our residents have been COVID free since mid-May.
As of October 20, 2020, the daily polymerise chain reaction (PCR) testing percent positivity in Northern Virginia is 4.1% and has been decreasing. However, the daily case incidence rate per 100,000 residents is at 9.4, which is approaching the high threshold of 10, and has been increasing for the past 17 days. We will continue to closely monitor our team members for signs and symptoms and they will continue to wear personal protective equipment for all resident interactions.
While we continue to run this marathon of coping with the coronavirus, we look forward to more opportunities to safely interact with our residents. We also continue to strive for our goal of emerging from this crisis vigorous, vibrant, and ready to thrive into the future.
Hermitage Northern Virginia is open for new admissions and has a few of our most popular apartment models available for immediate move in. Our Marketing Directors have thorough safety measures in place to allow for in-person tours of our community. Seven days before move in, a new resident will be asked to provide a negative test result for COVID-19, and after move in will enter a 14-day quarantine in their apartment. Renovation of Main Lobby, Bistro & Library:
The beautiful main level renovation is complete and we are excited to make the new lobby, bistro, library, and dining room available for resident enjoyment.
The main dining room and second floor dining room are open for residents to enjoy three meals per day. To ensure proper social distancing in the main dining room we are offering two seatings for lunch and two for dinner. For those residents who remain more comfortable dining in their apartments, room service will continue to be available as it has during the pandemic.
According to Virginia Department of Health guidelines under Phase II of reopening, non-medically necessary trips off campus should be avoided. We are currently providing transportation for medically necessary doctor appointments where we require residents to wear a mask at all times and practice good hand hygiene. We will continue our current protocol that any resident who leaves campus for any reason and for any length of time will be required to begin a six-day quarantine in their apartment upon their return. For residents who are required to be out of the community frequently for medically necessary visits (dialysis, chemotherapy, etc.) we will establish a regular testing schedule so they don’t have to be in quarantine at all times.
We have established an indoor “Visitor Vista” on the first floor of our Healthcare Center and families have begun making reservations by calling the Resident Services Department at (703) 797-3880 during normal business hours. Visitors are limited in number and must wear a mask at all times. Outdoor family visitation continues only in our Breezeway area between the two buildings.
Universal Source Control:
In order to protect our residents, team members, and families, the following infection control practices will continue to be monitored and enforced:
- Residents and team members are safer when they stay at home alone or with household members.
- Wear face coverings at all times when outside the home or office.
- Maintain social distance of greater than six feet from other people. When distance is impractical, both parties should wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Practice frequent hand hygiene with alcohol based sanitizer.
- Frequent cleaning of common areas with CDC-approved disinfectants.
